2 escape 3-alarm fire in Englewood

A teenager and her brother escaped a fire that severely damaged an Englewood duplex Thursday. The three-alarm fire broke out at around 1:50 p.m. in the 300 block of Shepard Avenue and quickly spread.

2 escape 3-alarm fire in Englewood
A teenager and her brother escaped a fire that severely damaged an Englewood duplex Thursday.
The three-alarm fire broke out at around 1:50 p.m. in the 300 block of Shepard Avenue and quickly spread. Authorities say the 19-year-old and her brother escaped.
Firefighters rescued a dog from the building.
Chopper 12 was above the scene as firefighters from Englewood, Ridgefield Park, Teaneck, Bogota, Hackensack, Tenafly and Bergenfield responded to the blaze. Firefighters say it took about an hour to get the fire under control.
One firefighter suffered minor burns; a second firefighter suffered some lacerations.
The American Red Cross is assisting displaced people.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
