Hundreds of state, county and township police officers took part Thursday in the 16th annual Blue Mass at the Diocese of Metuchen's St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral.
The annual Mass honors fallen police officers. This year the Woodbridge Township Police Department acted as the host of the event, which drew officers from across Middlesex County.  The Woodbridge Township police officers participated in liturgy readings and served as cross and candle bearers.
"We are honoring all those who have fallen. It's just great camaraderie (and) shows the brotherhood in law enforcement,” said Bob Hubner, of the Woodbridge Township Police Department.
The ceremony concluded with a 21 gun salute and the playing of taps.
