A 26-year-old man was killed and a pregnant woman was injured in an early morning shooting in Newark, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office confirms.
Officials say Sirree Samod Scales, of Raleigh, North Carolina, and a 23-year-old Newark woman who is nine months pregnant, were shot just after midnight on the 100 block of Seymour Avenue.
Scales was pronounced dead at 12:42 a.m. The pregnant woman suffered non-fatal injuries.
A spokesperson for the prosecutor's office says that the department is working to identify a suspect.
